4 Years And 10 000+ Starburst Candy Wrappers Went Into This Dress

I've been saving Starburst wrappers diligently (with the help of friends and family) for 4 years to create this dress. After enough were saved I organized them into colors, ironed them, folded them into links, and made candy wrapper chains.  With the use of elastic thread, I was able to sew the links together into a "fabric" to create the dress.

Orlando-based artist Celina Ortiz creates eco-friendly "Tree of Life" pendants together with her husband under the name RecycledBeautifully. The couple scavenge TVs that people throw in the trash and pull copper or aluminum wire from them. Then they twist the wire into trees that wrap around various vibrant stones that range from conventional turquoise or agate to more psychedelic-looking opals and abalones.
